Definition

Usage rights define which channels, time periods, regions, and formats a brand may use creator content in. They are especially important when content is used as ads, on landing pages, or in other media.

Also known as: Content Rights

What should be clarified

Key points include channels, runtime, geography, editing rights, paid usage, whitelisting, and exclusivity.

Without clear terms, conflicts can arise quickly when a strong creative should be scaled later.

Practice in influencer marketing

The more performance-oriented a campaign is, the earlier usage rights should be negotiated.

This allows strong content to be reused after publication and integrated cleanly into paid setups.
